Adidas Brazuca – Name of the Official World Cup 2014 Match Ball

adidas Brazuca – Name of the Official World Cup 2014 Match Ball
FIFA, the Local Organising Committee and FIFA Partner adidas today revealed the name of the Official Match Ball for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.

The ball will be called the “adidas Brazuca” following a public vote by over one million Brazilian football fans, where the name received 70 per cent of the vote.
adidas, the FIFA World Cup Official Match Ball supplier since 1970, took inspiration from elements of Brazilian culture to come up with a shortlist of three possible names for the ball. In addition to the eventual winner Brazuca, there were two more options – Bossa Nova - a reference to the famous samba-jazz music genre popularised in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1950s and 1960s and Carnavalesca - a word describing someone who plans or participates in the country’s raucous carnival celebrations.

For the past three weeks, Brazilian football fans have been voting for their favourite name in their thousands. This is the first time that fans have been directly involved in the naming of the FIFA World Cup ball.

The informal term “brazuca” is used by Brazilians to describe national pride in the Brazilian way of life. Mirroring their approach to football, it symbolises emotion, pride and goodwill to all.

“I’m delighted that Brazilian football fans have had the opportunity to play their part in deciding the name of one of the event’s most important symbols,” said FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke.

“I’m sure that the Brazuca ball will go down in history together with other iconic FIFA World Cup balls, such as the Tango in Argentina in 1978 and the Azteca in Mexico in 1986.”

The name was revealed today during TV Globo’s Esporte Espectacular programme, which featured Brazilian football legend Cafu.

Although the name of the ball is now clear, fans will have to wait a little bit longer until they can actually see the adidas Brazuca ball.

It is currently being developed, with its testing taking place worldwide with several football clubs and associations ahead of its launch for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Bayern Munich Extend Deutsche Telekom Sponsor deal

Bayern Munich Extend Deutsche Telekom Sponsor deal
Deutsche Telekom and FC Bayern Munich have announced the extension of their successful 10-year partnership for another four years. In the new agreement, covering the period from 2013 to 2017, the partners will expand their joint activities and implement a multifaceted program for football fans and FC Bayern supporters. Main sponsor Telekom will acquire additional advertising rights and services, to include social media and the new FCB News product.

The key objectives of the partnership are effective support for brand and product communication, and successful implementation of sales support activities driving new, innovative products and services. The optimal fit between the brands, the extensive potential offered by the fanbase, and the highly effective media and publicity reach associated with FC Bayern will serve to drive approval ratings for the Telekom brand and product awareness levels. The positive effect of the sponsorship commitment has been demonstrated by numerous market research surveys. As a result, Germany's leading telecommunications business aims to deepen the partnership over the years to come.

“With the extension of our partnership with FC Bayern, we are continuing our cooperation with a highly professional partner," commented Niek Jan van Damme, Deutsche Telekom board member and Telekom Deutschland management spokesman. “This commitment is an important component of our networked life activities."

Henning Stiegenroth, Telekom Deutschland head of sports marketing, commented: “The powerful effect of communications and sales promotion, and the increasing business orientation of the partnership, have demonstrably paid off for us. FC Bayern is our top partner in Germany with immense national and international appeal."

FC Bayern Munich AG chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented: “We are delighted our long partnership with Deutsche Telekom is to continue. Telekom is a very important, reliable and innovative partner, supporting us with its telecommunications expertise. Thanks to the help provided by Telekom, FC Bayern is based on sound and solid financial foundations."

Expansion of activities

Telekom’s visible presence at FC Bayern includes the club shirt, stadium perimeter advertising, team and club equipment and premises, and a dedicated fan area on the official website. The new, long-term agreement also offers the ideal environment for communicating product innovation. For example, the features of TV service Entertain, such as the digital archive and the Timeshift function, will be incorporated in the Stadium TV programme. Furthermore, Telekom will acquire exclusive rights to content associated with Germany's most popular football club, including match analyses, interviews, behind-the-scenes stories and documentaries. Telekom plans to develop attractive TV programming based on this content and offer it to its Entertain and MobileTV customers.

The partnership between Telekom and FC Bayern Munich also foresees an increase in the number of exhibition matches. The main sponsor is thus assured of the team's participation in Telekom’s annual football cup. This year's much praised two-day tournament, watched at the stadium by more than 80,000 spectators, was again successfully staged by Telekom, and has thus become established as a fixed event on the pre-season calendar.

Maybe this post isn't related to my blog. But I looked my calendar which is almost close to Valentine Day. Maybe this post useful for you. Enjoy!

Valentines Day sayings are for communicating fond or affectionate feelings. Valentine messages can express "like" or "love." Valentine card poems that can used as Valentine greeting card verses for just about anyone are very useful. This Valentine card verse is like that. These are the kind of Valentines verses that can be sent to your entire Valentine card list. People especially like rhyming poems.
Valentine Treasures
Valentine treasures are people who
have often crossed your mind,
family, friends and others, too,
who in your life have shined
the warmth of love or a spark of light
that makes you remember them;
no matter how long since you’ve actually met,
each one is a luminous gem,
who gleams and glows in your memory,
bringing special pleasures,
and that’s why this Valentine comes to you:
You’re one of those sparkling treasures!

Valentine poetry is often sent to the very special people in your life. This Valentine poem is a greeting card message to send to those important people.
Valentine’s Day Reminds Me
Valentine’s Day reminds me
of the smile I smile
every time I think of you,
the emotional lift I feel
at the sound of your name.
Valentine’s Day reminds me
of the strength and comfort I get
from knowing
there are people like you in my life.
Everything good about Valentine’s Day
reminds me of you.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

History of Bundes Liga

Origins
Prior to the formation of the Bundesliga, German football was played at an amateur level in a large number of sub-regional leagues until, in 1949, part time (semi-) professionalism was introduced and only five regional Oberligen (Premier Leagues) remained. Regional champions and runners-up played a series of playoff matches for the right to compete in a final game for the national championship. On 28 January 1900, a national association, the Deutscher Fußball Bund (DFB) had been founded in Leipzig with 86 member clubs. The first recognised national championship team was VfB Leipzig, who beat DFC Prague 7–2 in a game played at Altona on 31 May 1903.
Through the 1950s, there were continued calls for the formation of a central professional league, especially as professional leagues in other countries began to draw Germany's best players away from the semi-professional domestic leagues. At the international level the German game began to falter as German teams often fared poorly against professional teams from other countries. A key supporter of the central league concept was national team head coach Sepp Herberger who said, “If we want to remain competitive internationally, we have to raise our expectations at the national level.”
Meanwhile, in East Germany, a separate league was established with the formation of the DS-Oberliga (Deutscher Sportausschuss Oberliga) in 1950. The league was re-named the Football Oberliga DFV in 1958 and was generally referred to simply as the DDR-Liga or DDR-Oberliga. The league fielded 14 teams with two relegation spots.

Establishment

The defeat of the national team by Yugoslavia (0–1) in a 1962 World Cup quarter final game in Chile was one impetus (of many) to the formation of a national league. Under new DFB president Hermann Gösmann (elected that very day) the Bundesliga was created in Dortmund on 28 July 1962 to begin play starting with the 1963–64 season.
At the time, there were five Oberligen (Premier Leagues) in place representing West Germany's North, South, West, Southwest, and Berlin. East Germany, behind the Iron Curtain, maintained its separate league structure. Forty-six clubs applied for admission to the new league. Sixteen teams were selected based on their success on the field, economic criteria and representation of the various Oberligen.
  • From Oberliga Nord: Eintracht Braunschweig, Werder Bremen, Hamburger SV
  • From Oberliga West: Borussia Dortmund, 1. FC Köln, Meidericher SV (now MSV Duisburg), Preußen Münster, Schalke 04
  • From Oberliga Südwest: 1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. FC Saarbrücken
  • From Oberliga Süd: Eintracht Frankfurt, Karlsruher SC, 1. FC Nuremberg, TSV 1860 München, VfB Stuttgart
  • From Oberliga Berlin: Hertha BSC Berlin
The first Bundesliga games were played on 24 August 1963. Early favorite 1. FC Köln was the first Bundesliga champion (with 45:19 points) over second place clubs Meidericher SV and Eintracht Frankfur.

What is Bundes Liga?

The Fußball-Bundesliga (short: Bundesliga) is a professional association football league in Germany. At the top of Germany's football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. It is contested by 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the 2. Bundesliga. A total of 50 clubs have competed in the Bundesliga since its founding. Since the 1970s, FC Bayern Munich has dominated the championship, winning the title 21 times. However, the Bundesliga has seen other champions with Hamburger SV ,Borussia Dortmund ,Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfB Stuttgart most prominent among them. The Bundesliga is one of the top national leagues, currently ranked 3rd in Europe according to UEFA's league coefficient ranking, based on recent European performances. It is the number one football league in terms of average attendance and its average of 42,673 fans per game during the 2010–11 season was in fact only beaten by the NFL.
Unlike other countries, in Germany a unified national football league structure was quite late in developing. The Bundesliga was not formed until 1963 and the structure and organisation of the nation's football leagues have undergone frequent changes right up to the present day. The league was originally founded by the German Football Association, but is now operated by the Deutsche Fußball Liga.
